Our story dates back to 2007, when a group of students in Northern IL University's Professional MBA program were asked to meet on a weekly basis for a year to discuss projects and practice upcoming presentations. After searching for the perfect meeting space, the team ended up meeting at sandwich shops, the library, or a team member's house or work. None of these locations ideally suited the team's needs, but they got through the year. The fact that there was no perfect place available in nearby communities continued to bother one team member, so she set out to create a business. However, the economy was not in the best shape, the idea needed work, and the plan needed financial support, so it was tabled.

Then, in Fall 2010, the vision started to fall into place. The founder of Mixin Mingle Inc., Naté Grindeland, began taking classes in the community, and noticed that people were traveling all over to develop and enrich their personal and professional lives and to network. Why not bring it all into one location? It sounded like the perfect job, and the timing was right. From there, everything began to fall into place so she began contacting local talent who could facilitate classes covering new, trendy and fun activities. The ideas started pouring in, and the amount of content that could be offered was endless.

The next task was finding the perfect location. The owner wanted to be in a suburban business district near a Chicago Metra stop, and coincidentally, 231 Main St. in Woodstock, IL became available–the space was perfect. Woodstock is great because it is one of those kinds of towns, where, if you're not a native, it's hard to understand what's so great about it, because it's far away from Chicago, it isn't bustling with huge retail stores, and the big concert was actually in White Lake, New York--not here. But there is something very special about Woodstock, IL and its town square is especially popular, not just because it's where the movie Groundhog Day was filmed, or because the roads are paved with real brick, or because it has the best Farmer's Market and retail shops and restaurants, but because it has heart, and community, and the people who live and work here make you feel at home, and they never charge for parking!

So, with the location selected, it was time to fine tune the services and pricing offered, and in May 2011, Mixin Mingle opened its doors to the public and began holding classes, events, pop-up shops and private parties in Woodstock, IL.

The room is perfect for most types of gatherings and has occupancy for up to 120 people. We also have free Wi-Fi.
