Saturday, March 8th, 2014 is International Women’s Day. In honor of all the women in our lives, Serenity Haven Studio is hosting an event filled with workshops and a Self-Expression Showcase featuring performances by talented local women. Join us as we celebrate the women in our lives – our mothers, sisters, daughters, aunts, grandmothers, nieces, and ourselves! Yoga (12:15-1:00pm)
Yoga is an ancient practice designed to unify the body and mind. Benefits include increased strength and flexibility, reduced stress, better mood and concentration, and lower blood pressure.
Bellydance for Wellness (1:15-2:00pm)
An ancient and beautiful art form in Middle Eastern cultures, belly dance emphasizes isolations that stem from the torso. Focus on health benefits as well as isolations to execute movements safely and effectively.
Achieving Wellness (2:30-3:15pm)
It takes more than physical exercise to maintain good health. Achieving Wellness integrates the body, mind, and spirit in a dynamic process contributing to one’s well being.
McHenry County Food Cooperative (3:20-3:40pm)
A representative will discuss the goals of a food cooperative, the importance of buying local, and how you can get involved.
Holistic Approach to Weight Loss (3:45-4:45pm)
Stop dieting forever! Balance is the key to leading a healthy lifestyle. This approach focuses on the whole body and considers all factors that go into healthy weight loss.
Holistic Health on a Budget (5:15-6:00pm)
There is no doubt that eating organic is healthier, but doing so can be an expense many can’t afford. With some creative shopping and cooking you can eat for optimal health without breaking the bank.
